Legends of Reggae: Burning Spear

Burning Spear, aka Winston Rodney, a native like Bob Marley and Marcus Garvey of St. Ann's Bay, is considered one of the architects of reggae. Like many reggae artists, Burning Spear is known for its messages in favor of the Rastafarian movement.
His vocal style is unmistakable, adding a touch of melancholy to the lamentations in almost all his songs, one of all Get Ready.
Burning Spear (Spear Blazing) who borrowed his nom de guerre of Jomo Kenyatta, Kenya's independence leader, made his debut in 1969 with the single Peer Door, produced by Coxsone Dodd.
Winston Rodney believes in the role of religious proselytizing, and social redemption of reggae music. Collaboration with Dodd last until 1974, and the result will be collected in the two album Studio One presents Burning Spear (Studio One, 1973) and Rocking Time (Studio One, 1974).
