Legends of Reggae: Horace Andy

Horace Keith Hinds was born in Allman Town, a suburb of Kingston. The cousin Justin Hinds, famous for having founded the group in the 60's The Dominoes, introduced him to the world of reggae music.
In 1967, at age 16, recorded his first single with producer Phil Pratt George. From 1970 he began working with the label Studio One by Clement "Coxsone" Dodd which do not confuse the audience with his cousin, already known, suggested he be called Horace Andy. Became famous in 1972 with the single Skylarking.
After the experience at Studio One, Horace Andy works with many of Jamaica's biggest producers of the time: Bunny Lee, Augustus Gussie Clarke, Leonard Santic Chin, Keith Hudson, Derrick Harriott, Winston Holness (aka Niney The Observer), King Tubby and Prince Jammy.
In 1973 he released his second album, produced by Bunny Lee: "You Are My Angel (on label Trojan).
instead of 1977 and one of his most famous album, "In the Light", recorded for the label Hungy Town Everton Da Silva. This album has long been no more commercially available, has been reissued on CD by English Blood and Fire in 1995, accompanied by the entire disc dub (In the Light Dub).
After the brilliant career of youth, Horace Andy for many years had been almost completely forgotten by the general public: its "new" was launched successfully as a result of the collaboration had in the first three discs of English trip hop group Massive Attack, in the first half 90s. In Blue Lines, Massive Attack's first album, 1991 Horace Andy sings three songs: One Love, Five Man Army and Hymn of the Big Wheel. In Protection, Disk, 1994, Horace Andy sings 2 songs: Spying Glass and Light My Fire (cover of the song by The Doors.) In Mezzanine of 2006, singing Angel, Man Next Door and Exchange. Accomplices
also return to the sounds of early reggae (the so-called roots reggae) and the intense activity of rediscovery and republication of masterpieces by some of reggae music labels such as undertaken and Fire and Blood Pressure Sounds, career Horace Andy has a new impetus to affect bringing new records and performing live all over the world, including Italy.
Famous for his unique and recognizable vocal style, falsetto, is a loyal devotee of the Rastafarian doctrine and many of his songs deal with religious themes and social justice. Among the most famous songs include "You Are My Angel, Skylarking, Problems, Money Money, Government Land.
